Beginning my Journey to Become a Certified DDP Yoga Instructor

Image

Well, I’ve taken the plunge.  I’ve gone ahead and begun the journey to become a DDP Yoga Level 1 Certified Instructor.  Since it was DDP yoga that initially got me on the mat, and since I always get a kick-ass workout from it, I feel it’s only fitting to take to the next level.

As I embark on this journey, I’ve started to film my workout, log my workouts, and really kick things up a notch.  Here are Parts 1 and 2 of the workout that I filmed myself doing last week:

I’m also going to use this journey to shed the last 25 lbs or so from around my mid-section.  Overall, I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life, but I’m still striving to reach my goal weight of 225 to 230 lbs.  Every day I make progress.  I know I will reach my destination, and I’m just loving the journey.

  1. Hi there,

I’ve recently been diagnosed with hypertension at the ripe old (read: young) age of 35. I hate being on medication and a friend of mine suggested yoga to reduce stress. Being a person who is used to lifting heavy weights, the idea of this made me cringe. Then I saw a video for DDP yoga and I thought it would be a great way to get aligned, de-stressed AND fit (again since I have been ordered not to work out until the BP gets under control). I figure after I master this, I’ll go ahead and do the certification as well as I am truly moved by the change it has made in so many people’s lives. I haven’t started yet with the program but I’d love to hear more about your experience and get any advice.

    1. Hi Aja,

DDP Yoga is phenomenal! The three DVD set walks you through each step in the process, where you can modify each pose in ways that suit your body and fitness level. I come from a weight-lifting background, and I can tell you from personal experience that DDP Yoga is not only an excellent compliment to weight training, but will cause you to look at your overall health and fitness lifestyle with a fresh new pair of eyes.

DDP Yoga will do wonders for your hypertension, and anything else that ails you. Trust me, I don’t like taking meds either, and anything I can do on my own to keep from having to pop pills and drink potions, I’m game!

In addition, DDP Yoga also comes with a healthy, whole-foods meal plan to get real, nutrient-rich whole food in your system. In addition to DDP Yoga, after reading The China Study, I switched to eating a primarily whole-foods, plant-based diet. That, along with the yoga, made ALL of the difference in the world.

Go for it, and keep me posted on your progress. OWN YOUR LIFE!!!

      Dutch
